Hello Maryland!
Well, here we are for the summer, in beautiful, scenic, sunny Maryland! Let the games begin...Madonna arrived at Paternal Gift Farm, Barn #1, on Wednesday around 1:00 pm. Since then, I've been out to visit several times, giving her plenty of time to get settled before I start working with her. There are two other horses in the field, both big bay Thoroughbreds, a mare and a gelding. Another horse, a huge paint Draft, Curley, lives in a seperate paddock without grass, due to the risk of Founder. Madonna is very, very afraid of Curley, who is the cutest thing, he even gives kisses :P! I hope to enliven this blog a little bit this summer, and keep tabs on the progress of my golden child. It's time for a change, I can feel it in the air!

The First One
In effect, I am creating this blog to act as a journal for my progress with my filly, but I think that this will also help me to remember to blog for English class - something that I am struggling to remember. 'Spirit of the Night' a.k.a Madonna is my 15.3 hand, 2.5 yr old, dark bay roan Holstiener/TB, 4% Appaloosa filly. She is by Broadway Boogie Woogie (8% Appaloosa colored Holstiener stallion), out of Eager to Be (TB mare). She was backed and broken in this summer, and is currently performing at the walk and trot, off lunge/lead, for approx. 30 minutes, once a week. In November I will increase this to twice a week, which will help us reach toward our Olympic dreams. Good Night!!!
